Eggs laid in water drown, as you have learned. It takes more than "a few" wood chips to make a good nest site. you would have to measure the wood chips in bushels, at least. Piles of composted wood chips are very popular for turtle egg-laying.

You can construct a nesting box for it.



I dont want my turtle to escape and hop out of the pond so i layed a few wood chips on the edge so she can lay her eggs. She layed some of her eggs in the water but, sadly the eggs died. So, should i use wood chips so she can lay her eggs there or what?
