The brown recluse is not native to your area, so if you do find an individual, it is likely a hitchhiker from the south central US.
Recluse spiders are very seldom seen, not withstanding, they are the most overhyped spider on the planet.
Very few bites from them even need medical attention, and people that really live with these spiders don't worry about them.
There is one spider in your area that is often mistaken for brown recluse, that is the male southern house spider, and they are as harmless as ladybugs:

A lot of spiders look similar to the brown recluse and many have markings that could be seen as a violin. If you get a chance to photograph one try to get a closeup of the eyes. Loxosceles species have a very uncommon eye arrangement, 3 pairs. Most spiders have 4 pairs and this is an important key to identification.
Ok ive look online at pictures of these pest and i have seen so many of these things this year around the house now with that being said i also done research on them and from what im getting they say there rare and shy type of spider and dont live in this part of va and they say its imposible to find them here but i know what im seeing ive compared the pics to the actual spider and my niece was bitten by one a few weeks back and had to go to doctors and they said the bite came from a poison spider can someone explain why im seeing so many of them next time i see one i will post the pic if i can catch one they are very fast when i get close to them
