Baby Chicks no Heat Lamp?

Yes, you still will need a heat lamp because their temperature must be 90 to 95 degrees within their first week. Then reduce that temperature by 5 degrees each week that passes. It's crucial to keep those temperatures or you're risking loosing your new flock.

Just to be safe it is always best to have a heat lamp anyways my dad lost a batch of chicks last year because we didnt have enough heat lamps for all the chicks so yes id say its best to get one anyways!

Hello,

I am going to get baby chicks that are 1 week old. It will be the summer so the night will be around +-80F or +-25C. Do I REALLY need a heat lamp for them to survive? Because I don't easy access to them. :)

Can I just cover a cardboard box with old clothes and line the floor of the inside of the box with towels and hay and provide food and water in a bowl instead??? I can put it in my garage which is very insulated against draft or chills????

Any help would be much appreciated! :)
