Yes. Like all birds, there was originally a wild population the birds were originally taken from & domesticated.

There are 7 different species of Lovebird from memory- all of them come from Africa.

The birds that are kept as pets were bred to be pets. They could not survive in the wild- particularly not in countries where they are not native.

I have seen love birds under captivity only. Are they pet birds bred for the purpose??.. Do they really exist in nature??. If they are natural birds isn't it a sin to to put them in cage??
