Are crocodiles the most dangerous predators of humans?

Yes crocodiles kill the most humans during attempted PREDATION on humans, which is NOT what snakes, or hippopotami do. Poisonous snakes may kill more people and are predators but not on humans. People die due to accidental encounters in which the snake feels it must strike to protect itself. Crocs kill about 1,000 people a year which is probably more than hippos kill and in any event hippos are irrelevant here since they don't kill humans to prey on them....

The most dangerous predators of humans is ... homo sapiens sapiens. Millions of humans are killed by h.sap every year.

Then there are snakes ... they kill 50,000 people a year, on average. Scorpions kill a few thousand people per year. Hippopotamus are said to kill nearly 3000 people per year. Crocodiles kill less than 2,500 people per year.

No.

Crocodile attacks aren't something that happen really often. Once in a while, that can be a problem if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Aside from malaria that mosquitoes spread, which currently kills one person every 60 seconds, the Asian cobra causes the majority of snakebite deaths that number 50,000 every year. That being said, the crocodile has the strongest biting power of any know animal - 2500 pounds per square inch or the equivalent of having a small truck parked on your chest.

Morning fox is correct humans are the most dangerous predator, we kill more of our own and other species than anything else on the planet. he is also correct about hippos killing more than crocs - hippos kill more people in africa than any other predator (which is pretty impressive since africa has the highest variation of predatory animals of any continent), hippos are extremely territorial, particuarly during mating season.

Crocodiles really are not that dangerous, obviously they are if you run into one but as long as you are not stupid enough to swim in crocodile infested waters (which is how most people are killed by them) you will be fine, they dont actively hunt people, in reference to what you say about hem being indiscriminate that is down to their eyesight. Crocs have very bad eyesight and rely a lot on vibrations and movement so a lot of the time they cannot tell what they are aiming for they just know it is there - if you throw something at a croc it will snap at it. if the thing they snap at puts up a big enough fight they will let go - and this has happened to people before, apparently a lot of eye poking and sticking fingers up their nostrils can be quite effective.

Nope, a tiger has the most recorded deaths as a man eater.

no, crocodiles are just the dumbest of the other animals, and would attack a T-rex if given the chance. a lion, cougar, lepoard, tiger, kill more humans than crocodiles ever did so i dont know why you even said big cats.

I am not referring to parasitic animals like mosquitoes, I'm talking about predatory attacks.

It seems that other large predators like bears, sharks and big cats normally try to avoid humans and preying on us is not considered typical behavior for them. But crocodiles, in particular the nile and saltwater species, are indiscriminate killers and seem to have zero reservations about attacking humans and will take the opportunity to eat one just like anything else they can overpower.
