I recommend going through a breeder than a pet store to buy a hedgehog. There are several breeders in WI and I will attach a link so you can find a breeder near you. Breeders generally screen for health issues better and tend to sell much more socialized animals. I personally don't like supporting pet stores than sell animals, especially hedgehogs, because they tend to come from backyard breeders and there's usually no lineage available on the hedgehogs. I also find breeders tend to include more in the health guarantee and some breeders even include care packages in the cost to go home with (food, blankets, toys, sometimes even complete enclosures).
