Any animals that match this description? Pt. 2?

I have always thought of having a pet peccary, a medium sized animal that looks rather like a small pig. If she had raised one from infancy, it would probably go anywhere with her, as they are social by nature and live in herds. They eat mainly plants, but will also eat meat and bugs.

Wow... you are asking for something very complicated. You want something with no scales or feathers which of course throws you into the mammal range. You do not want dogs but you want something knee size that is also laid back and not dangerous... also has to keep up with a human. I hate to tell you but all animals have the potential to be dangerous. You want it pig/capy/wombat like but not those. Not to mention want something that an animal that only a few people have owned before. Like I said, with your must list... very complicated if not impossible.

Your main problem is you want something smaller than a capy which hit at or just below the knee but you also want something that can keep up with a human. Most small mammals will have major problems with that.

Have you thought about a fictional creature? Something you create?

If you do not want something fictional, I suggest you tweak your list of requirements... if you do have some suggestions.

Mind you you cannot "tame" wild animals...

-Cheetah: not too large, easy to keep up, no scales/feathers, laid back

-Sun Bear: smaller species of bear, no scales/feathers, not as aggressive as other bears

-Peccaries/Red River Hog/Etc: would be your big like but wild species can be very aggressive

-Small monkey species: she would need to carry though

-Hyena: can be aggressive but also very social if hand raised

-Aardvark

-Jackal: yes its a dog but at least its different

-Lynx

Um, maybe a coatimundi? They resemble a cross between a raccoon and uh...something with a pointy nose. They aren't to big, but they're cute. They aren't common pets but I've heard of people keeping them as exotics before.

fossa (very agile in trees and more related to raccoons than cats), white nosed coati, quokka (but quokka's are too nice and too cute), red panda

How about a Clouded leopard, Snow leopard, cougar, caracal, or serval?

Ok, adding to my previous question.

To recap, I am looking for an animal to put in a book I'm writing as the companion to the main character through her "journey"

I am NOT looking for a dog AT ALL or ANY animals that more then a couple of people have owned before. I was an animal that's usually wild but the one in my book seems pretty ok with following the protagonist around and being her "pet"

I was basically something medium sized. About up to an average adults knee if standing beside it. Pretty furry, no scales, feathers, etc. pretty chill personality, not dangerous.

Basically, I do want the animal to somewhat resemble a pig/capybara/wombat type creature but I can't seem to find one! I don't want it to be wait her of these because... Pigs are a bit too big and slow and pretty common as pets. I want the animal to be able to keep up with a human at walking pace. Capybaras are way to big and somewhat common pets. Wombats aren't very "tame" or nice sometimes. But perfect example of kind of what I'm looking for as far as size, fur and all around look!

Any help is appreciated!
