Ant kingdoms?

I have not seen that movie, but yes they can survive for years and years. Of course it varies from species to species. As long as there is a healthy queen and she is able to reproduce the colony can survive.

Not sure what you mean by pile but my guess is the mound you might see above the ground. If so the colony is actually below the ground.... usually what you see above is dirt they have pushed out of the ground while forming the colony.

Ant kingdoms have been around for as long as life has existed on our planet. Ants, actually, exist on all continents due to their overwhelming presence in Pangea millions of years ago. These kingdoms are set up hierarchically, with the alpha ant presiding over the millions of other ants in his trove ("trove" refers to a community of ants, much like a "school" of fish or a "pride" of lions) The alpha ant has the privilege of mating with all females in his trove, oftentimes more than once. When the alpha ant dies, a week-long competition is staged in which male ants must eat as much grass as they can in order to prove their worth and durability as the next alpha ant.

Hope this helps.

So I was watching Antz and I was wondering if there are long lasting ant kingdoms. How long do the little ant piles last? Are they just one generation things or do they keep going? Thanks.
