I'm not quite sure that sore throat or anything along those lines is even a symptom of rabies ; the onset of rabies is described as "flu-like", and throat soreness is not a symptom of the flu (contrary to popular belief). Sure, coughing might be a symptom, but coughing can be the result of tons of other infections, air pollution, breathing issues or swallowing bits of food. It's possible that he had post-nasal drip, which made him cough, and that makes your throat feel the way it does.
I think that you should calm down a little. Although it's understandable that you'd worry about a viral disease with an almost 99% mortality rate (after the first symptoms begin), your sore throat and any symptom you're describing is probably the result of hypochondriasis. Next time, it's best to stay away from the internet, rationalize your thoughts and breath deeply before diagnosing anybody (including yourself!)
I don't think he has rabies. First they are super rare.Second they are not carried by a lick the saliva goes by a bite when it pierces the skin. Even though he has eczema I don't think it got in such small cracks. Third did the dog have symptoms? I know he might still have rabies even if he hasn't had the symptoms if you know the dogs owner you could ask him or her how the dogs doing. But if the dog doesn't have rabies it would probably actually help the eczema. Because a dogs saliva actually has something in it that can actually heal wounds.haha . I don't think it is rabies but if it gets worse like having trouble breathing drooling from the mouth fever or other symptoms go get help. I hope I helped. :)
No i dont think your dad has got rabies. Rabies dogs dont lick at all. All they do is they bite.
Okay so right now i'm extremely worried. My dad was licked by a dog 3 months ago, my dad said he acted fine, no difficulty walking or dropping jaw or drooling. the dog licked my dad on his leg's eczema (where he have very hard and dry skin with cracks) 3 months later he have a sore throat/cough. 1 day ago my dad coughed alot and some of his saliva got onto my face and mouth i cleaned the saliva that got on my face but i'm not sure if some went inside my mouth. my dad sore throat is kinda fine now. He don't have any fever or anything my dad thinks my worrying for no reason.. i told him 1000 times to go see a GP but he always said no, he thinks i'm being anxious. okay so today i have a very slight pain in my throat left side, no difficulty swallowing tho. just a slight pain. okay so my question is does my dad have rabies? it's been 3 months and the dog only licked his eczema (not sure if the saliva get into his bloodstream through the cracks). i've read everywhere that rabid dogs don't lick people and if they lick then they're not rabid. but i'm still worried now i'm even more worried because of my throat pain, what if my dad have rabies and i get it from him? i actually don't think i can get rabies because last week i completed my rabies vaccine series. 4 doses and the doctor told me that the vaccine will protect me from the virus for 2 years if i get bitten again in 6 months or more then i'll take 2 doses. it's not even a month yet since i got the vaccine so it'll protect me.
