Abandoned baby bird, help? :(?

I saw one and took it to a animal shelter and they saved it! :)

I would suggest getting it inside your house before it gets dark. It probably would not survive the night out there, alone. Get a box big enough so it won't run loose in your house. It may or may not accept food by hand but you could try placing bird food (seeds maybe) inside the box with it, along with a shallow bowl of water. Don't disturb it too much because that will place more stress on the bird. Cover the box with a blanket or towel before you sleep. In the morning, bring the box back outside and set it in a safe place away from direct sunlight. Make sure it has enough food and water. When he's strong enough and ready, he'll be able to fly away.

An alternative would be to take it to a wildlife vet, if possible.

Normally I would say let nature take its course but this happened because of human activity, so in my opinion a human should help it.

I hate to be depressing, but it probably won't survive unless you get it to a professional. I would recommend calling your Animal Control and asking them who you can take the bird to.

This happened to me when I was a kid, a pair of cardinals had one baby that couldn't fly and they had to leave it because it was raining. My mom took the baby to the local Vet school at Iowa State University but it died anyway.

I've heard somewhere that if you soak milk on bread and let the baby take small bits of that off of a spoon or an eye dropper, that might work to keep him fed tonight.

Good luck,

Kelly

From what my dad told me, it appears we have a pair of Red Sparrows, the dad being the Red Sparrow (not sure how you call it in English since I only know the name of it in Spanish, and the dad has a red spot under it's neck, called Gorrion in Spanish). I've read that you're not allowed to help certain birds considering their species but I really want to help this one.

The pair previously had 4 birds last time, and they've decided to in habitat the same nest again with some modernization. For this nest, they turned to have 5 since we sometimes see the birds looking around. My dad accidentally got too close to the nest today and scared off the birds, all of them already having feathers and being to fly. All but the smallest one (has feathers) which can't really fly yet. The parents came to check on it a while ago but left with the others. I keep placing the bird into the nest and hoping the mom will come back but the baby keeps trying to fly and ends up in our drive way.

I doubt the mom or dad is coming for it since it's been at least 4 hrs since they left. Any help on what I can do? I feel like feeding it by hand since there's a lot of crickets and small insects at night, would that work until it's stronger to fly?

Any help please :)

Thanks
